I am blessed to be the mom of 3 amazing sons (Milo, Lucas, and Callen ) who light up my life with their wonderful personalities, energy and enthusiasm!

In my spare time I enjoy building Lego with my boys, reading, watching movies and also creating childcare resources!

I have attended Coquitlam Christian Centre for the past 11 years and am so delighted and honoured to be a part of this amazing ministry. I look forward to getting to know all you! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your children’s lives!

Psalm 127:3-5  Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Seung Eun (Ellen) Lee

Infant/Toddler Supervisor

My name is Ellen.

I was born and raised in South Korea, and after I finished studying in University my family and I moved to Canada in 2003 because my parents loved Vancouver once they traveled around. It was not easy at the first time to be adjusted in a different environment but the people I met were very nice and it was so interesting to get to know all different cultures. I love this beautiful Vancouver city and appreciate its multicultural atmosphere.

In 2004, I made my own family with my husband and I got my two lovely children. I like to spend time with my family both indoor and outdoor! We enjoy playing board games, watching movies, biking, camping, and going on trips.

My experience includes a degree in Art Education along with Elementary and Middle School instruction, and this opportunity led me to continue my journey to be an Early Childhood Educator. Now I have Early Childhood Education, and Infant and Toddler Education diploma, and I am learning everyday thru children, parents, and my co-workers.

I always think I am the luckiest person because I start a day with hugs and kisses from children, and I appreciated that I can be a part of their early life and watch them grow.

Azadeh Sakimehr

School Age Supervisor

Greetings Parents,

My name is Azadeh, I’m a mother of two beautiful children, and been married to my wonderful husband for almost 21 years. I have been babysitting for relatives, friends, and my mom since I was 6 (helping my mom with my little brother). I have taken a few child development classes as well. I have truly developed a heart for children. Mix together responsibility, patience, and organization, along with a large cup of playfulness and a dose of discipline and you've got me!

I believe that children learn through play and through the opportunities to explore provided by the adults who care for them, they will explore further and grow more if they know they are loved, respected and safe. I have been told I have a very calm, nurturing and FUN personality.

I look forward to meeting you and your children and making wonderful memories here at Shining Star Daycare.

Raquel Alves

PreK Supervisor

Hello, my name is Raquel Alves, I am an Early Childhood Educator from Sprott Shaw College in New Westminster, BC.

I was born in Canada but grew up on an island in the Caribbean named Trinidad and Tobago. I am the eldest of five children; I have two brothers and two sisters. I am also the mother of two beautiful daughters but they are both all grown up now.

I believe that children learn through play and sensory experiences. I feel that art; music and science should be open ended experiences such as bringing outdoor play indoors, using nature to teach, letting the children be the leaders instead of teacher directed activities.

It thrills me at the end of every day to hear the children’s excitement, to see them running to their parents full of stories of their day. I look forward to my time here with you and the children and please feel free to talk to me or ask me questions. I welcome help and opinions.

Thank you!

Grace Ko

Pre-School Supervisor

Hello everyone! My name is Grace. My family moved from Hong Kong to Taiwan for church ministry and my mom gave birth to me in Taiwan. I am fortunate to be able to grow up with learning to speak Mandarin and Cantonese due to my parents' background. I came to Canada when I was five years old and I love living in such a beautiful country.

I graduated from UBC with a bachelor degree in Linguistics in 2014. However, during my last two years in university, I began to grow more interested in working with young children. I love to hear the different comments and ideas the children say and suggest. The smiles on their faces always brightens my day. After graduating from UBC, I decided to pursue a career working with children. I studied at MTI Community College for a year to obtain my ECE certificate.

I believe that children are to be nurtured in a loving and safe environment. I am excited to learn more about each of the children and provide them with the care they need to grow as individuals each and every day.
